ID: Eric Welsby, advocacy director for Detroit Disability Power, discusses how the Michigan Voting Rights Act would assist disabled voters during a Dec. 4, 2024 press conference.

"Eric Welsby, the advocacy director for Detroit Disability Power noted the Michigan Voting Rights Act would standardize the process for curbside voting, and provides an alternative for voters who cannot access a polling place, or a back up plan if things in more accessible voting spaces like elevators break down. 'What does a polling place do if they don’t have a backup plan? This is that backup plan. Passing the [Michigan Voting Rights Act] is essential to make sure everyone in our community, every disabled voter who shows up on election day, is able to cast their ballot,' Welsby said. According to McCain, the Legal Defense commissioned a study which found 73% of Michigan voters wanted their representatives to prioritize passing the Michigan Voting Rights Act."
