Deadline to register has been extended to Sunday, July 10.
Detroit Disability Power's mission is to leverage and build the organizing power of the disability community to ensure the full inclusion of people with disabilities in Metro Detroit. Our local media shapes our community's narrative every day, including what we come to know and how we think about disability. Through this workshop, we hope to give you the knowledge and tools to tell inclusive stories accurately and powerfully.
Please join us for this two-part event:
Part 1: Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Part 2: Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
During this two-part event, we will learn how to use accurate language when talking about our disability community, practice framing stories and discuss how we relate to disability and how this informs our stories.
We will be in-person at the Damon J Keith Center for Civil Rights - 471 W Palmer, Detroit, MI 48202 - Rm 2242.
This is a valuable professional development opportunity. We are a grassroots organization and your monetary support of this workshop grows the work of disability justice. We offer a sliding scale and invite you to pay what you can.
If you're supporting yourself, we invite you to support us with $30. (If you can't give this much, it's OK. If you can give more, please do.)
If your company/newsroom is supporting you, please pay $100. (If you're able to give more, we encourage you to do so.)
COVID-19 protocols:
All participants must be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations.
All participants must wear masks at all times, unless drinking or eating.
If the weather allows, we will convene outdoors.
