Come learn how to conduct a high quality poll audit so you can push for greater accessibility in our democratic processes! This is a “train the trainer” workshop. We’ll provide information and materials so your organization can conduct a poll place access audit where you live. Who is this event for? Those working with disability and/or voting rights organizations anywhere in the US!
When disabled people vote, we vote in ways that support our wellbeing, our safety, and our ability to survive in this country at all. This ultimately positively impacts everyone—which is often the case when disabled folks get our needs met. More accessible polling locations are essentially more welcoming polling locations and easier-to-use polling locations. This fosters positive voting experiences for all, and encourages us even further to protect our democratic process. But with only 16% of polling locations in Metro Detroit being fully accessible, this means we have some work to do before voting is comfortable and convenient for all. We’re up for that challenge, are you?
